Alsager Rites This Wednesday

Funeral services for Jennings Arnold Alsager were held this Wednesday morning, Sept. 28, from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset.

Mr. Alsager died Sept. 25 at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. He was 49 years of age.

A son of Lewis and Olga Blomdahl Alsager, he was born Jan. 12, 1928 at Stanhope, Iowa. He purchased a farm in Union township of Madison county in 1965, moving to Winterset in 1974.

In recent years he was a machine operator at Gendler Rock Quarry. He was a 4-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, a lifetime member of the local V.F.W. post, a member of the American Legion and of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

On June, 29, 1956, he was married to Adelyn Thompson at Ames, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Joyce Alsager, a student at the University of Iowa; one son, Mickey at home; one brother, Lloyd Alsager of Story City, Iowa; and five sisters, Delores Reinberger of Ames, Alice Peterson of Ohio, Carol Boren of Mr. Vernon, Iowa, Edith Davis of Newton, Iowa and Shirley Teggatz of Homestead, Iowa.

Officiating at the funeral this Wednesday was the Rev. Robert Toso. Burial, with military graveside rites, was at the Story City cemetery.
