Harry Alley, Winterset

Harry R. Alley, 84, of Winterset, died of a heart ailment May 16, 1997 at his residence. Funeral services were May 19 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Pastor Jon Gaul officiated the services and burial was at the Winterset Cemetery. Military graveside services were provided by the American Legion Post No. 184 and V..F.W. Post No. 8142 of Winterset.

He was born Sept. 22, 1912 in Fontanelle to John Ray and Mary Jane (Kerr) Alley. He married Cora Ilene Miles on Nov. 6, 1938 in Winterset. He was a retired auto salesman and had owned a tailoring and dry cleaning business in Winterset for a few years before entering into auto sales. He had been a resident of Winterset for the past 60 years. He was past commander of the American Legion and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include one son, Harry M. Alley and wife Sherry of West Des Moines; two sisters, Louise Marrs of Manson and Mary Beaumont of Superior, Nebr.; and two grandchildren.
