Robert Powell Hibbs

EARLHAM-A funeral for Robert Powell Hibbs, 73, of Earlham was held Dec. 3, 1991 at the Friends Church at Earlham. Mr. Hibbs died of emphysema on Nov. 30. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.

The son of Forrest J. and Beulah Powell Hibbs, he was born on Dec. 2, 1917 on the family farm near Earlham that remained his home until retirement. On July 14, 1940, he married Helen Barr in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. He was a retired farmer, and also had worked for Madison County in the assessor’s office, Federal Crop Insurance and Iowa Certified Seed Co. He was a birthright member of the Friends Church and a past master of Madison Lodge No. 568 AF & AM.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, by his parents and by a brother, Eugene.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; a daughter, Judith Tinberg of Dumfries, Va.; a sister, Mary Cole of LaSalle, Colo.; and two granddaughters.
