Death of Mrs. Susan Evans

Mrs. Susan Evans, widow of the late Hugh Evans, died Aug. 19th, in Fontanelle at the home of her daughter, Mrs. N. E. Newberry. She came with her parents to Iowa in an early day, the entire trip being made with ox team. They settled in Madison county, near Winterset, where she was married to Hugh Evans, Sept. 15, 1859. They made Madison county their home until June, 1869, when they moved to Adair, residing there until 1886, when they moved to Fontanelle, where she lived until the death of her husband in 1913. Since that time her home has been in Stuart. She was the mother of ten children. The services were held from the Congregational church, Aug. 20th.
