Russell Lowell Hougham was born December 13, 1905 in Adel to William and Anna Hougham and passed away at his home in Earlham on April 13, 1961 at the age of 55 years and 4 months.

At the age of three years he moved with his family to North Dakota where he lived until he was 23 years of age. At this time he returned to Iowa and was united in marriage to Geneva M. Lafferty of Correctionville, Iowa. To this union was born three children. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

The family has been a part of the Earlham community for the past eighteen years.

Russell, together with his wife, was baptized into Christ in the year of 1937 and continued steadfast and faithful to His Word and to the church of Christ until his death. His uppermost thoughts were for his home and his family to whom he was a devoted husband and father.

Survivors include his widow Geneva; two sons, Norman of Des Moines and Larry who is stationed with the Navy at Chase Field, Beeville, Texas; his mother, Mrs. Anna Hougham of Adel; two sisters, Miss Inez Hougham of Adel and Mrs. Robert Reese (Louise) of West Des Moines, many other relatives and friends.
