Services for John Walter Allen, 77, rural Prole, who died Feb. 27 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, will be held Thursday, Mar. 1, at 1:30 p.m. at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset., with the Rev. Byron Ayers officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.
Born in Adair County Mar. 2, 1906, he was the son of William James and Elizabeth Mulcahy Allen. Mr. Allen had lived in the area since 1925 and retired from farming in 1979.
He married Eva Bartlett at Atlantic, Iowa on June 16, 1947. He was a member of the ASCS and at one earlier in his life had traveled with the DanRice Circus Men in the southern United States.
Survivors include his wife and a brother, William Paul Allen of Lorimor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
