Pfc. Gene L. Adams, U.S. Army of Macksburg was killed Dec. 24 while servicing in Thailand, as a result of injuries received in a bulldozer accident. His death occurred exactly one year after the death of his father. A sister, Caroline lost her life in an accident in March of 1956.

The young soldier was a son of Mrs. Evelyn Adams and the late Virgil Adams of Macksburg. He graduated from Macksburg High School with the class of 1961. and entered the U.S. armed forces in 1963, taking his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. He was stationed later at Ft. Lee, Va. And Ft. Knox, Ky.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by five brothers, Bill and Phil Adams, at home, James Adams of Creston, Michael Adams of the Alameda Naval base, California, and Jack Adams of Des Moines. He also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Gene Farlow of Winterset, Mrs. Wyman Wilson of Iowa City, and Cindy Adams, at home, in addition to his grandfather, J. C. Thompson of Macksburg,

GENE ADAMS RITES HELD AT MACKSBURG

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 10 from the Macksburg Methodist church for Pfc. Gene L. Adams of Macksburg, who was killed in an accident in Thailand, where he was serving with the U.S.Army. The Rev. Donald Frank of Des Moines and the Rev. William Richardson officiated the services. Military ritual was conducted by Green-Rogers post American Legion post, American Legion of Winterset.

The body had been accompanied here, as official escort, by John M. Adams, U.S. Navy of Alameda, Calif. He is a brother of the victim of the accident.
