Levi "Lee" Elmond Huffman, 84, of Winterset died of a heart ailment Feb. 20, 2001, at his home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at McGinnis Cemetery, Crawford Township, Madison county, with military rites performed by American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142, both of Winterset.
Lee Huffman was born Feb. 14, 1917 to Jesse and Ollie (Sipes) Huffman of Callaway, Neb. He spent his first eight years of life in Nebraska. He then moved with his family to Corydon and then Seymour. An Army veteran of World War II, he married H. Pauline "Polly" Cumps on March 23, 1943 in Des Moines. In 1948, he moved to Winterset, having previously resided in Des Moines. A retired lineman and troubleshooter for Iowa Power and Light, Lee had been a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star Lodge, all of Winterset, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 499, Patterson United Methodist Church and a former member of the Patterson Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughter, two brothers and a sister.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Jeff Huffman (wife Terry) of Houston, Texas, two daughters, Launa Jamison (husband Keith) of Knoxville and Wanda Gau (husband Jerry) of Parker, Colo.;two sisters, Pat Taylor of Des Moines and Lorraine Taylor of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Multi-Purpose Center in Winterset.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
