John Jensen, Winterset

Services for John N. Jensen, 69, Winterset, who died Dec. 11 at the Care Center South where he resided, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thurs., Dec. 14, at the Collins Funeral with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Burial will be at the Hill of Zion Cemetery in Zion.

Born at Harlan on Feb. 10, 1920, he was the son of J. Peter and Edna Miller Jensen. He was retired and had operated Jensen's Tavern in Orient and had operated a school bus for the Orient-Macksburg school district. He also was a truck driver for the Campbell Trucking firm in Orient, Meyers Truck Stop in Winterset and had farmed near Peru and Zion.

Mr. Jensen was married to Margie J. Horton on June 11, 1940 at Grant City, Mo. The couple was divorced and he married Clara M. Duff in Aug. 23, 1964 in Orient.

He had lived here the past six years, coming from Orient. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Eagles Lodge of Creston, served on the Orient City Council and was a past fire chief and fireman on the Orient Fire Department.

Survivors include his sons, Dennis and wife Sue of Duluth, Minn., Darrell of Winterset, Doyle and wife Dyane of Winterset, and John and wife Cindy of Bettendorf; a daughter, Loretta Lauer and husband Dean of Winterset; brothers, Leo and Leland of Atlantic, Otis of Warsaw, Mo., and Melvin and Ed of Winterset; a sister, Lettie Loper of Coouncil Bluffs; 15 grandchildren and one great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his two wives and parents,
