Cady L. Newton, one of Madison county's well known residents for many years, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1959, at a Winterset nursing home. He was 73 years of age, and had been in failing health for several years.
Mr. Newton was a retired farmer, who for many years was an insurance salesman in Winterset.
He was a native of Sioux county, Iowa, where he was born June 22, 1885, a son of Richard and Louise Mullen Newton. He had been a resident of Madison county since 1887.
He was a member of the Methodist church, and was affiliated with the Masonic and Eastern Star lodges.
He was married Feb. 10, 1909, to Grace Aikin of Winterset. They were parents of four sons. The wife and mother preceded him in death. His second marriage was April 2, 1935, to Eva Cox, who survives him.
In addition to his wife; he leaves the four sons, Kenneth Newton of Greenfield, Donald and Phil Newton of Winterset, and Paul Newton of Des Moines, 10 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a brother, Glenn Newton of Winterset.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John Porath. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
