J. F. McCLEARY Dies Of Heart Attack

J. F. McCleary, prominent Jefferson township farmer, died suddenly at his home Tuesday, January 18, 1938, the victim of a heart attack. He was 65 years of age.

The death of Mr. McCleary was felt keenly by acquaintances throughout Madison county. He was a member of a pioneer family in Jefferson township, and was widely known as a worthy and substantial citizen.

His death came almost without warning. He had been in apparent good health and was in Winterset Monday. The fatal heart attack lasted only about five minutes.

In recent years, Mr. McCleary had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Eichner, he leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Pearl Severns of Union township and Mrs. Berteen Brooker of Jackson township; and one son, Ward McCleary of Union township.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the Jefferson U. B. church, in charge of the Rev. E. A. Elliott of Des Moines. Burial will be made in the Jefferson church cemetery.

OBITUARY OF FRANK MCCLEARY

James Franklin McCleary, the son of Charles S. and Mary McCleary, was born February 18, 1871, in Madison county, and died January 18 at his home at the age of sixty-six years and eleven months.

He was united in marriage to Ida May Walker on December 6, 1893. To this union were born four children, Pearl Severns, Ward McCleary, Bertine Brooker and Evelyn Eichner. His wife preceded him in death on September 11, 1935. They lived practically all their married life on a farm in Union township. He joined the United Brethren church in early life.

In addition to his children he is survived by four grandchildren, Mrs. Dwight Addy, Mrs. Ward Lecocq, Lavern Severns and Bonnie Ann Brooker, two great grandchildren and five brothers, A. B. McCleary of Houston, Texas; S. A. McCleary of Winterset; Ed McCleary of Los Angeles, California and Seth, Will and Clarence of St. Charles. Four sisters and one brother are deceased.
