Dorothy Allen, Wasco, Calif.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Oct. 6, at the Wasco, Calif., Seventh Day Adventist church for Dorothy Irene Allen, 64, of Bakersfield, who died Oct. 3. Pastor Joe Marshall officiated the service. Graveside services were held in Winterset, Tues., Oct. 10, at the North McDonald Cemetery and interment followed.

Mrs. Allen was born March 28, 1925 in Adair County, Iowa, to Jim and Fern Porter. She attended elementary schools and received her high school diploma in Winterset.

She and Homer Allen were married April 7, 1946 in Winterset. They moved to California in 1957 and in 1961 Mrs. Allen graduated from Fullerton Junior College as a Registered Nurse. They moved to Wasco in 1963 and she began working for North Kern Hospital. She retired in 1986.

Surviving family members include, her husband of 43 years, Homer Allen of Bakersfield; sons, Richard Allen and Rex Allen, both of Idaho, and Ricky Lucas of Japan; daughters, Rosemary Danesi and Janet Lucas, both of Bakersfield; one brother, James Porter of Winterset; sister, Joy Croat of Kearney, Missouri; and six grandchildren.
