Services for Darrell Allen, 58, Winterset, who died of cancer March 14 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines, were held Saturday, March 16 at the Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter. Burial was at the Booneville Cemetery.
Born May 31, 1926 at Booneville, he was the son of Thomas and Florence Hubbard Allen. On Dec. 8, 1946 he was married to Bernice Henson in Des Moines.
Mr. Allen had lived in Winterset since 1964 and had lived in the Booneville and Dexter areas prior to that. He had worked for the State Department of Transportation, was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Winterset American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Cheryl Capps and Carol Hindman both of Winterset; sons, Benjamin and Darrell, both of Winterset; his mother, of West Des Moines; brothers, Ralph "Mike" of Winterset, Donald of Booneville and Willis of Grinnell; sisters, Beaulah Paullin of West Des Moines and Maxine Newburn and Dolly Anderson, both of Des Moines; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.

Services for Darrell Allen, 58, of Winterset, who died of cancer Thursday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.
Mr. Allen was born in Booneville and lived there and in Dexter until 1964 when he moved to Winterset. He was an employee of the state Department of Transportation and was a member of the Winterset American Legion. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two daughters, Cheryl Capps and Carol Hindman, and two sons, Benjamin and Darrell D., all of Winterset; his mother, Florence Allen of West Des Moines; three brothers, Ralph “Mike” of Winterset, Donald of Booneville and Willis of Grinnell; three sisters, Beulah Paullin of West Des Moines, and Maxine Newburn and Dolly Anderson, both of Des Moines; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
