Robert MacLaren Hindman died in Winterset on May 7, following four years of illness, resulting from a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Hindman, who was 74 years old at the time of his death, had been unable to work after paralysis came upon him and has been a invalid during all of this period.
At the age of nineteen, he came from Ohio to Iowa, settling in Jackson township, on the farm where his youngest son now lives. Ten years ago Mrs. Hindman died. Their three children Mrs. L. R. Shoff and Alex of Jackson township and Charles of Winterset survive. Mr. Hindman gave loyal service to the Union during the Civil War.
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at Pitzer, conducted by Rev. C. E. Hawthorne, burial taking place in Pitzer Cemetery.

Robert McClarren Hindman was born in Morrow county, Ohio, March 66, (sic) 1845, and passed away at his home in Winterset, Iowa, May 7, 1919, aged 74 years, 2 months and 1 day.
At the age of 19 he joined the 136th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and served about six months. April 4, 1867 he came to Madison county, Iowa and settled on a farm near Pitzer where he lived until 1912. Since then he has made his home in Winterset.
On April 24, 1873 he was united in marriage to Eliza McMichael and to this union were born three children, two sons, and one daughter, all of whom are living. Charlie Elsworth, Winterset, Mrs. Etta J. Shoff, near Pitzer, and Robert Alexander living on the old Homestead.
On December 27, 1890 he united with Pitzer church and was a faithful member until death.
Ten years ago death came to Mrs. Hindman and about three years later Mr. Hindman moved to Winterset where he resided until his death. His health had not been good during these years and for the last four years has been an invalid.
Besides his three children, four grandchildren are left to mourn and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock from the Pitzer church, Rev. C. E. Hawthorne conducting the service. The remains were entered in the Jackson township cemetery. The relatives have the sympathy of their many friends in their sorrow.
