On the list of casualties in this county for the week is the confirmation of the death of Ensign Floyd Craven who was reported missing on January 18. In the telegram sent to his father, M.M. Craven, from the War Department, Ensign Craven is reported to have died in a plane crash in the Philippines. He was a crew member on a B-24 Liberator and was returning from a mission when the plan crashed into mountain. He was buried at sea.

Ensign Craven is survived by a brother, L.M., of the U.S. Navy; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Leachman of San Diego and Mrs. Carol Ballard of Douglas, Wyo. His father, J.M. Craven, also survives. His mother died about three years ago.

He was 24 years old, a graduate of the Winterset high school, class of 1937. He entered the service four years ago, choosing first the Navy and later transferring to the Navy Air Corps. He had been on active duty since last September.

ENSIGN FLOYD CRAVEN Pilot, Is Killed

Ensign Floyd M. Craven, 24, previously reported missing in action Jan. 18 in the Philippines was killed on that date, the navy has informed his father, J. M. Craven, Winterset, Ia

Ensign Craven was employed by International Harvester in Des Moines before entering the navy four years ago. He received his pilot wings Nov. 2, 1943, at Pensacola, Fla. Ensign Craven had been serving in the Pacific since last September as a Liberator pilot.

Surviving, besides his father, are a brother, L. M. Craven, seaman, second class in the Philippines, and two sisters, Mrs. Letha Leachman, San Diego, Cal., and Mrs. Lela Ballard, Douglas, Wyo.
