Mrs. Lloyd (Violet) Stegall, 60, of LeGrand died Sunday, June 18, at the Marshalltown Area Community hospital where she had been a patient since Wednesday.
She had been hospitalized intermittently in Iowa City for the past year.
Born Violet Bebout December 22, 1917, at Prairie City, she was the first daughter of Clarence and Hazel Nichols Bebout. She received her education and spent the early part of her life in Earlham.
In 1935 she was married to Jim Waddell who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, a sister and a son, Larry, in 1958.
On December 17, 1962 in Marshalltown she was married to Lloyd Stegall and they had always made their home in the Ferguson and LeGrand areas.
Mrs. Stegall was an active member of the LeGrand Friends church, serving on the Ministering Council, the Missionary Board and taught Sunday school, was a member and former president of the Literary Music Club and the LeGrand ACT Club and was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving is her husband, Lloyd; a son, Harold Waddell of Mechanicsville; and a daughter, Mrs. Rosalie (Carl) Fricke of Marshalltown and five grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters and a brother, Francis Bebout of Woodward, Iowa, Ruth (Mrs. Carlton) Zornes of Tucson, Ariz., Rachel (Mrs. Ivan) Gilmore of Linden, and Sue (Mrs. Bill) Davis, Marshalltown.
Services were Wednesday, June 21, at the LeGrand Friends church, with the Rev. Steven Main, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the LeGrand Friends cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the LeGrand Friends church.
