WINTERSET WOMAN DIES AGED 75 YEARS

Mrs. Claude Alexander Had Lived in Community For 57 Years

Mrs. Claude Alexander, a resident of Winterset, for 57 years, died Monday, May 20, at Memorial hospital in Winterset after a brief illness. She had been stricken suddenly the preceding day.

Mrs. Alexander was 75 years of age. She was a native of Missouri, where she was born at Jameson on Jan. 13, 1888. She was the former Oris Hetty Tribbey, daughter of W. R. and Emily Critten Tribbey.

She was married Sept. 17, 1904, at Gallatin, Mo., to Claude L. Alexander, who survives her.

She was a member of the First Baptist church of Winterset.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Claude Alexander, Jr., of McGregor, Minn.; seven daughters, Mrs. Aletha Dvorak of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Ola Stout of Carson, Mrs. Dorothy Wessell of Forest Park, Ill., Mrs. Gladys Nelson of Huxley, Mrs. Emily Hagemann of Hutchinson, Kan., Mrs. Laura McCammond of Des Moines and Mrs. Betty Jean Meyers of Lincoln, Nebr. She also leaves 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Truman Tribbey of Gallatin, Mo.; and four sisters, Mrs. Vivian Hagen of Venice, Calif., Mrs. Gladys Long of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Wathena Fulton of Independence, Mo., and Mrs. Mollie Harrell of Winterset.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist church of Winterset, with the pastor, the Rev. Glynn Ensor, officiating. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.

Services Held For Mrs. Alexander

Mrs. Claude Alexander, 75, of Winterset died at the Winterset Memorial hospital Monday evening after suffering a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Winterset Baptist church.

She is survived by her husband, seven daughters, one son, 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The Alexander’s formerly lived in the Pitzer neighborhood. She was the grandmother of Sherry and Darcey Gubser.
