HELEN NICHOLS Died Saturday

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, January 6, 1976, at 2:00 p.m. for Helen Lenora Nichols. She died Saturday, January 3, at the age of 72.

A lifetime resident of Madison County, Mrs. Nichols was employed at the Winterset Ben Franklin store at the time of her death. She and her husband had operated a grocery store and meat market in Winterset for a total of 35 years.

The daughter of Fred Mardis and Jessie Snyder, Helen Lenora Nchols was born June 6, 1903, in Winterset. Her marriage to George R. Nichols took place January 28, 1923 in Des Moines. Mrs. Nichols was affiliated with the Methodist church.

Survivors include her husband, George R. Nichols, two sons, George Mardis Nichols of Des Moines, Fred Vincent Nichols of Colorado Springs, Colorado, two daughters, Jean Rhoda Harlan of Atlantic, Iowa, and Linda Lee Silverthorne of Morton, Illinois.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild and one sister, Josephine Kirscher of Winterset.

Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her parents.

Officiating at Tuesday's services for Mrs. Nichols was the Rev. Walter Samp of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Funeral direction was by Collins Funeral Home.

Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
