Earbie Lee "Whitey" Akers, 79, died Sept. 5, 2003 in Norwalk.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday Sept. 14 at the Peru Community Building.
Whitey Akers was born May 19, 1924, in Roanoke, Va., to Madison P. and Virginia (Young) Akers. He had resided near Milo for most of his life. Whitey had worked for Solar's Aircraft and Economy Forms, both of Des Moines. He had been retired for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters.
He is survived by three sons, Allen Akers and Gene Akers, both of Winterset, and Donnie Akers of Florida; three daughters, Annette Dillinger and Karen England, both of Peru, and Connie Baker of Winterset; three sisters, Pauline Braddock of Indianola, Della Miller of Ackworth and Alice Miller of Pella; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
