Richard G Stanley, 65, of Des Moines, died of cancer February 26, 1994 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Vigil services were February 28, 1994 at the St. John's Catholic Church in Cumming with a Knights of Columbus Rosary following. Burial was at the St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Cemetery near Cumming.
He was born in Des Moines and lived near Cumming for 63 years before moving back to Des Moines. He farmed in Madison, Polk, Warren and Dallas Counties retiring in 1990. He was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church; St. Thomas Aquanas of Columbus Council in Cumming; Fourth Degree member of the Dowling General Assembly Knights of Columbus; he served on the Winterset school board and FHA board; was a committeeman on the A.S.C. office in Madison County and a trustee for the St. John's Catholic Church in Cumming.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary Ellen (Hanrahan) Stanley of Des Moines; two daughters, Pam Winslow and Patti Gall, both of Cumming; one son, Michael Stanley of Urbandale; his mother Gladys Stanley of Norwalk; and five grandchildren.
