RUSSELL C. AIKIN DIES AT 36 YEARS

Funeral Held at Macksburg; Military Honors at Burial

Russell R. Aikin of Winterset died Saturday, May 22, at a Des Moines hospital, after an extended illness. He was 36 years of age.

Mr. Aikin was born at Winterset April 7, 1929, a son of Ray and Edna Trester Aikin. He was a veteran of U.S. Coast Guard service, but had been retired in recent years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Aikin was married in 1951 at Duluth, Minn., to Shirley LaFlamme, who survives him. He also leaves three sons, Jeffrey, Glenn and Todd Aikin, and a daughter, Sheryl Aikin, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Edna Aikin of Marshalltown; and three sister, Mrs. Corrine Eivins of Marshalltown, Mrs. Florence Thomas of Winterset, and Mrs. Margaret Blair of Lorimor.

He was preceded in death by his father; and by a son, Warren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Donald Frank. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
