Ruth L. Adams, Winterset

Ruth Lenore Adams, 79, died Sept. 30, 2002 of complications of a stroke at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at New Hope Christian Union Church in Madison County with Pastor Darrell Sams and Greg Sharp officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at Winterset Cemetery at a later date. No visitation is planned.

Ruth Adams was born June 29, 1923 to Carl and Winifred (Douglas) Burkhead of Adel. She grew up in Adel, then lived in Pisgah, Marshalltown and Lorimor, moving to Winterset in 1963. On June 8, 1963, she married Charles R. Adams in Lorimor. Ruth was a retired teacher. She had taught in Pisgah, Marshalltown, Peru and Winterset. She was a member of New Hope Christian Union Church of rural Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister.

She is survived by a son, Carl Adams of Winterset, and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to New Hope Christian Union Church.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
