Peru Burial For Mrs. Ackelson

Gladys Leota Ackelson, 70, died June 29 in the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Ackelson was born February 10, 1902, the daughter of Frances Ellen and Edwin Oscar Jeffs, at Kasson, in Madison County.

She was a member of the Deer Creek Chapel Christian and Missionary Alliance church north of Lorimor.

She was married to Emory Ackelson September 17, 1919. They made their home on a farm near Peru and later at Ankeny, Iowa.

Mrs. Ackelson is survived by her husband, Emory, one son, Wayne of Des Moines, five daughters, Josie Cramer of Scobey, Montana, Lois Sawhill of Winterset, Darlene Hildreth, Betty Edgington and Marlyn Hutton, all of Ankeny and 11 grandchildren.

A son, Garland, preceded her in death during World War II.

She is also survived by two brothers and four sisters: Mrs. Delia Jeffs and Everett Jeffs of Lorimor, Charley Jeffs of Peru, Ethel Wallace and Riley Ackelson of Des Moines, and Mrs. Lula Orr of Rockwell City.

Services were held last Saturday at 2 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home in Winterset by the Rev. Lloyd Knouf. Burial was at the Peru Cemetery.
