Leo Ackelson, Des Moines

Services for Leo Ackelson, 81, Des Moines, who died Wednesday, May 11 of a heart ailment at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, were held Saturday, May 14 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, Des Moines. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery.

A native of Winterset, Mr. Ackelson lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was a retired truck driver for Merchant Transfer and Storage Co. He was a member of University Church of Christ and Teamsters Union Local 147. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; sons, Roy Ackelson of Des Moines and Keith Meyer of Shelton, Wash.; daughters, Gretchen Brown of Ankeny and Norma Roush of Des Moines; a brother, Vern Ramsdell of Des Moines; a sister, Edna Wilkenson of Ankeny; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
