HERB GARLAND Died Here Friday

Herb Garland, a well known Madison county farmer and resident of the country for 45 years, died Friday, Dec. 16, 1966, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 80 years of age, and died after a short illness.

Mr. Garland was a native of Jackson county, were he was born May 23, 1886, a son of Leslie and Eliza Jane Baldwin Garland. He was married April 8, 1909, to Clara Frederick, who survives him.

Mr. Garland's active life was spent in farming, and as a livestock buyer. He had retired in 1961 and moved to Wintereset.

He was a member of the Methodist church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Jackson of Winterset; and three sisters, Mrs. Martin Lydon of Stuart, Mrs. Wight Linn of Stuart, and Mrs. Guy Byerly of Scranton.

Funeral services were held Monday from the First Methodist church in Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E. K. Burham. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
