Hazel Marie Lull Phearman, 87, died Dec. 8, 2000 of pneumonia at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation (formerly Integrated Health Services) in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset with Dr. Bobby Dickerson officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Hazel Phearman was born Nov. 25, 1913, in Dallas County to John R. and Gertrude (Wright) Atkins. She married Carl Phearman in 1962 in Winterset. Her first husband, Orloff Lull, preceded her in death in 1958. A homemaker, Hazel also was a sales clerk at Graves Department Store in Winterset for 20 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Greenwood (husband Richard) of Iowa City and Connie Frey (husband David) of Des Moines; three sisters, Ellen Root of Winterset, Maxine Handel of Indiana and Martha Hartmann (husband Herb) of Oregon; a brother, John Atkins (wife Grace) of Winterset; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice.
