Carl J. Phearman, Winterset

Funeral services for Carl J. Phearman, 88, will be held Thurs., March 19 at 1:30 p.m. at First Christian church with the Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12 to 9 p.m. with family visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Mr. Phearman died March 16 at Madison County Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 3, 1904 in Jasper County to Charles H. and Mabel (Jones) Phearman and came to Winterset from the Earlham area in 1941. He married Berniece Cox on January 25, 1927 who died in 1959, and then married Hazel Atkins Lull on September 16, 1962 in Winterset. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and two brothers.

Surviving are his wife of Winterset; a son, Claren of Los Gatos, Calif.; a daughter, Velma Anderson of Des Moines; two step-daughters, Jean Greenwood of Iowa City and Connie Frey of Des Moines; two sister, Ruth Faidley of De Queen, Ark. and Mildred Pilkinton of Midwest City, Okla.; nine grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Collins Funeral Home is handling arrangements, and burial will be at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church.
