EARLHAM-A funeral service for Gladys E. Wilson, 86, was held April 21, 1994 at Earlham Friends Church at Earlham, with burial following at Earlham Cemetery. Mrs. Wilson died of pneumonia on April 18 at the Adel Acres Care Center.
The daughter of Asa and Rosa McClure Smith, she was born April 9, 1908 at Earlham. She graduated from Earlham High School. She married Wilfred Asa Countryman in 1932. Following his death, she married Hugh Wilson.
She had lived at Council Bluffs and Dexter before moving to Adel 14 years ago. She had worked as a seamstress and given sewing lessons and had also worked at the Earlham Funeral Home. She spent many years as a Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; by her parents; by an infant sister, Lucille, and by another sister, Ila Dolan; and by a brother, Lyle Smith.
Survivors include two brothers, Raymond and Homer Smith, both of Des Moines; and two sisters, Myrtle McCormick of Lehigh, Utah and Wilma Williams of Stuart.

April 20, 1994 Metro pg 5Gladys E. Wilson, 86, of Adel died of pneumonia Monday at Adel Acres there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Earlham Friends Church. Burial will be at Earlham Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Earlham and had lived in Earlham and Council Bluffs before moving to Adel in 1980. She was a retired hostess with Evans Funeral Home in Earlham and was a member of both the Earlham Friends Church and the Earlham United Methodist Church as well as the Earlham Garden Club.
Survivors include two brothers, Raymond Smith and Homer Smith, both of Des Moines; and two sisters, Wilma Williams of Stuart and Myrtle McCormick of Lehigh, Utah.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Kuhn Funeral Home.
