Funeral services for Jay C. Evison of Winterset Care Center South were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 22, at Collins Funeral Home. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery with Pastor Peter Quiring officiating. Mr. Evison died Friday, October 19, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 93.
Born on October 14, 1886 at Westside, Ia., he was the son of Robert C. and Rachael Vandewater Evison. A lifelong resident here, he farmed until his retirement in 1952 and was also an employee of the Madison County Sale Barn for 20 years.
Among the survivors are two nephews, Walton, Rundlett of Escondido, Calif. and Bill Evison of Truro, and three nieces, Mrs. Karl Smith and Etta Bailey, both of Winterset, and Mrs. Carl McMichael of Truro. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
