Elvis Van Kirkpatrick, 85, of New Virginia, died of a heart ailment Aug. 5, 1996 at his residence. Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Pastor Jim Patrick will officiate the services and burial will be at the New Virginia Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Family visitation will be from 7-9 p.m.
He was born in Davis County to Eddie and Molly (Vanote) Kirkpatrick. He married Fern Marie Tracy on March 11, 1934 at his home in Madison County. He was a carpenter and had worked for Solar Aircraft from 1955-1959. He had lived in New Virginia 41 years and had worked for Challenger Campers in St. Charles for 18 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; one son-in-law; one sister; one granddaughter; and one grandson-in-law.
Surviving relatives include his wife; four sons, Eddie Kirkpatrick of Des Moines, Dale Kirkpatrick and wife Kyle of Palmer, Nebr., Vernon Kirkpatrick and wife Judy of New Virginia, and Ronnie Kirkpatrick and wife Marilyn of New Virgina; Four daughters, Delores Prather of Bellflower, Calif., Aletha House and husband Fred of Martensdale, LaDonna Smith and husband Terry of Murray, and Bonnie Smith and husband David of New Virginia; six sisters; two brothers; 27 grandchilren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hospice of Central Iowa.
