Charlene Chandler, Winterset

Charlene Chandler, 60, died of renal failure March 7, 2000 at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 13, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Burial was at McDonald-Chase Cemetery in Douglas Township, Madison County.

Charlene Chandler was born Aug. 4, 1939, to Thomas and Dorothy (Hope) Bush of Winterset. She married Melvin McDonald on Jan. 25, 1956. He preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1978. Her marriage to Steve Chandler took place Sept. 15, 1984. A homemaker most of her life, Charlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church, served on the Board of Directors for McDonald-Chase Cemetery and was a volunteer at the Madison County Historical Complex.

She was preceded in death by her father, her first husband, Melvin, and one brother.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; her mother Dorothy Knight(Chuck) of Winterset; three sons, Gary McDonald, Greg McDonald (wife Deb) and Grant McDonald (wife Rae Jean) all of Winterset; a daughter, Lisa Beaman (husband Jeff) of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Duane Bush (wife Marilyn) of Winterset; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset.
