Earlham Echo - February 1959

Frank Hill, eldest child of Lester and Nellie Fleming Hill was born February 13, 1902 on the farm where he has lived his entire life. The past three years Frank has been in ill health. Everything that medical science and loving care could do proved of no avail and he slept peacefully away at the Dexter hospital February 5, 1959. His age being 56 years, 11 months and 24 days.

On January 26, 1947 Frank was united in marriage with Frances Fastle at Earlham. Theirs was a happy life together. Frank loved his home dearly. His stepson, Wayne Fastle also shared in the love and comfort of this home.

He joined the First Presbyterian church of Earlham in early childhood and has been a faithful member holding the office of trustee for several years.

Frank received his education in the rural school in Penn township and the Earlham Consolidated School, graduating with the class of 1920.

He was Past Master of the Masonic Lodge and Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star of Earlham also a member of the Consistory and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine of Des Moines.

He has always taken a great interest in the Civic affairs of the community, having held the office of trustee of Penn township for many years.

Frank was a good agriculturist and loved livestock especially good cattle.

Frank's parents preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his loving wife, Frances, his stepson, Wayne Fastle, one sister, Mrs. Gladys Ross of Dexter; two brothers, Bruce of Central City, Iowa; Howard of Adel, Iowa; five nephews, one niece also his Uncle Marion Fleming together with many cousins and a host of friends.

Frank's life was enriched by the happiness attained through loving service. The community has lost a substantial citizen, a good neighbor and friend.
