Services for Ralph E. Hern, 66, who died Jan. 11, 1987, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Brite officiating. Military graveside services by VFW Post 8142 were also held at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born Dec. 17, 1920 in Winterset, he was the son of William and Daisy Young Hern. On April 14, 1956, he was married to Mary Crossley at Waterloo.
Mr. Hern was employed in road construction and was a truck driver. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW and the local CB club.
Survivors include his wife; brother, Jack of Gilbertville and Charles of Indianola; and a sister, Velma Hendricks of Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a half brother and a sister.
