CLARENCE CARMAN MOORE

Clarence Carman Moore was born December 25, 1879 at Pickway, Ohio, the son of Matthew and Elizabeth Postlewaite Moore. He passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 1955, at the age of 75 years, two months and 19 days.

He had two brothers and two sisters, all of whom, with his parents, have preceded him in death. His only survivor is his wife, Nettie.

Clarence was born on a farm and farming has been his occupation during his entire life. When he was nine months old, his parents came from Ohio to Alexis, Illinois, where the family lived until 1901 when they moved to the Dexter community.

At the age of 25 he united with the Mt. Vernon Methodist church, later transferring his membership to the Penn Center Methodist church.

He was united in marriage to Nettie Morford, February 23, 1911.

In 1946 the Moores moved to an acreage at the west edge of Dexter from the farm south of town where they had lived for a number of years.

Although deprived of children of their own, Clarence and Nettie have often cared for children in their home, and Clarence loved them all and they in turn loved him.

He had been in poor health for a number of years but was never heard to complain, and up to the day he died he wanted to wait on himself. He had a remarkable sense of humor and this ever good spirit endeared him to all his acquaintances. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Clarence Moore Died Suddenly March 16

Funeral Services Held At Dexter Methodist Church Saturday

Friends and acquaintances of Clarence Moore were shocked and saddened to learn of his sudden passing from this life on Wednesday afternoon of last week at the Dexter Clinic. He had been at a family dinner on Sunday but had not seemed real well that day and relatives remarked that he seemed tired that night. On Tuesday he was taken to the Dexter hospital for a check-up and was taken back on Wednesday for x-rays. The pictures did not reveal an emergency condition but when he approached the car to be taken home he suddenly seemed to slump. He was taken inside and given emergency treatment but he did not respond and passed quietly from this earth.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church in Dexter with the Rev. Clyde King officiating. Comforting sons were sung by Robert Lawson, “When They Ring Those Golden Bells for You and Me” and “Beyond the Sunset.” Ladies in charge of flowers were Mrs. Laverne Schaaf, Mrs. Bert Jobst, Mrs. Ray Cook and Mrs. Foster Davis of Stuart.

Interment was in the Penn Center cemetery, pallbearers being George Conway, Warren Piatt, Ray Cook, James Silletto, Ralph Garland and Laverne Schaaf.
