July 1955FRANK R. LIBBY
Frank R. Libby, son of William C. and Marry Stafford Libby, was born at Adair, Iowa, February 20, 1878, and died at his home in Earlham, July 20, 1955.
On March 12, 1902 he was married to Miss Effie Bigwood of Earlham, and for a time made their home here. Soon, however, they moved to Valley Junction, now West Des Moines. There he engaged in work for the Rock Island railroad, and continued in this employment for 43 years. In 1943 he retired from this work, and moved back to Earlham, where he and his wife have made their home for the past 12 years. On March 12, 1952, they observed their golden wedding anniversary, with a reception at the Friends church here.
Frank Libby was a long-time member of the Odd Fellow Lodge. He became a member when a young man, and maintained his affiliation for over 50 years. He was awarded a 50-year badge by the brotherhood.
Besides his wife, he leaves three children, Lyman of Chicago; Wilma Doherty of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and Lester of Des Moines. There are also surviving five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One brother, Harlan, of Grand Junction, Colorado, also survives him.
Frank was a good neighbor, and a friendly man. He always had some bit of humor or pleasantry to pass with those he met. In his last long illness he was patient and uncomplaining to the last. He will be missed by all his many relatives and friends.
