GARNET A. HAM, Winterset

Garnet A. Ham of Winterset died Friday, June 24, 1983, at Madison County Memorial Hospital at the age of 68. Funeral services were held Monday morning, June 27, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Bush and Rev. Kenneth Helmers officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born on April 14, 1915, at North Platte, Neb., she was the daughter of Walter S. and Verda Bell Mumford Lake. She married Elwood Ham on December 9, 1937. Her husband survives her.

Mrs. Ham moved to Winterset three and one half years ago from rural Macksburg where she was an active member of the Macksburg Methodist Church, 4-H leader, and member of the Needlecraft Club. She had worked with the Earlham Care Program for eight years.

She is survived by her son Dennis of Ames; three daughters Sharon Dean of Ottumwa, Eva McDonald and Betty McKeever, both of Winterset; two brothers Forrest Lake of Jolly, Iowa, and Jacob Lake of Fonda, Iowa; seven sisters, Ruth Beadle of Jolly, Bertha Maddy of Fonda, Nira Alexander of Waterloo, Nova Allen of Rockwell City, Iowa, Lois Marsh of Central, Ala., Letha Gifford of Ohio, and Ruby Cooper of Lucas. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Dale Lake.
