MRS. MATA WIGHT

Mrs. Mata Wight, a lifetime resident of Madison county, died Thursday, January 13, at the Horton Nursing Home.

Mrs. Wight was born in Webster township, November 1, 1877, a daughter of Andrew and Caroline Hart, an early pioneer family of that community.

She was married to Arch Wight, March 2, 1898. They lived on the same farm in Webster township until 1926 when they moved to Winterset.

To them were born four children, Harry, who still lives on the home place, Dorothy Morford of Earlham, Ruby Lull of Spirit Lake, and Lois Peters of Greeley, Colorado.

Her husband and two brothers preceded her in death.

Surviving relatives include four sisters, Bertha Krell of Winterset, Cora Krell of Humboldt, Iowa, Sady Ragan of Clements, Minnesota, and Blanche Brock of St. Joseph, Missouri.

Also ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She had been a member of the Oak Grove church since early girlhood.

Services were held Saturday, January 15, from the Richards Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Charles Bellus, pastor of the Oak Grove church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Those attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. George Peters of Greeley, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ehlert and Mrs. Blanche Brock of St. Joseph, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lull and Judy of Spirit Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Leland of Humboldt.

MRS. MATA WIGHT DIED THURSDAY

Former Webster Township Resident Was 77 years of Age

Mrs. Mata Wight, a life-time resident of Madison county died Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Horton Nursing home here. She was 77 years of age.

Mrs. Wight was born in Webster township Nov. 1, 1877, a daughter of Andrew and Caroline Hart, who were pioneers in that community. She was married to Arch Wight March 2, 1898. They lived on the same farm in Webster township until 1926, when they moved into Winterset. Her husband preceded her in death.

Surviving are four children, Harry Wight of Webster township, Mrs. Dorothy Morford of Earlham, Mrs. Ruby Lull of Spirit Lake, and Mrs. Lois Peters of Greeley, Colo. She also leaves 10 grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Krell of Winterset, Mrs. Cora Krell of Humboldt, Mrs. Sady Ragan of Clements, Minn., and Mrs. Blanche Brock of St. Joseph, Mo.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Charles Bellus, pastor of the Oak Grove church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
