FRANK CRAVEN, Winterset

Frank Craven, 90, died of cancer March 27, 2003, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

A memorial graveside service was held Monday, March 31, at Moon Cemetery, Grand River Township, Madison County, with Pastor Sandy Smith officiating.

Frank Craven was born Nov. 9, 1912, to Frank and Emma (Conway) Craven Sr. of Macksburg. He was a 1930 graduate of Macksburg High School. In 1947 he married Geraldine Elizabeth Miller in Rapid City, S.D. A lifetime resident of Madison County, Frank had been a carpenter and later a school custodian. A World War II veteran of the United States Army, he was a member of V.F.W. Post 1797 of Creston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Paul Craven; and three sisters, Doris Warnick, Irene Frederick and Helen Jones.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Patricia Hurwitz of Manchester Township, N.J.; four stepgrandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
