DORA IRA CALLISON, Winterset

Services for Dora Iris Callison, 97, Winterset, who died Nov. 27, 1983, at the Madison County Memorial Hospital, were held Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Zanker officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Mrs. Callison had been a resident of the Bethesda Care Center in Winterset. She was born in Madison County Feb. 19, 1886, the daughter of Isaac and Sarah Jane Woolery Fairholm.

She was married to Albert W. Chester. He died in 1917. She was married to Dale A. Callison on Mar. 26, 1919 at Des Moines. He died March 9 of this year.

Mrs. Callison was a member of the First Christian Church, a past worthy matron of the Eastern Star, founder of the Gray ladies and a member of the Peru Garden Club. She attended the Chillicothe Normal College at Chillicothe, Mo.

Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a foster daughter, three brothers and two sisters.

Services were held Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset for Dora Callison, 97, of Winterset, who died of a heart ailment. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Mrs. Callison lived in Madison County all her life. She was a member of the First Christian Church and was the founder of the Gray Ladies, a hospital volunteer workers organization.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

The Callison’s were former residents of Earlham, where they operated a general store.
