MORTUARY

Dale DeVault

On March 13, 1896, there came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie DeVault a son, their first born, Forest Dale, who grew to manhood on the parental farm in Jackson township. When about 20 years of age he united with the Webster M. E. church.

On October 3, 1917, he was united in marriage to Miss Bessie Estell, of Greenfield. To this union were born three children, one dying in infancy. The old home place had always been his home, except three years spent in Wayne county.

Dale was energetic, and a hard worker, obedient to his parents, loving and careful for his family, and a good neighbor. On September 13, 1929, he met with an accident and he had been a constant sufferer ever since, but bore his suffering with much patience and counted the days till he would be well again. On February 11th, he was taken much worse and at 8 p.m., February 18th, he passed away on to his reward, at the age of 33 years, 11 months and 23 days, leaving to mourn his departure his wife, two children, Helen Ruth, age 10, and Paul Charles, age 2, his father and mother, three brothers, Orla, of Dexter; Clair, of Laurell, Montana; Gyle, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Sawhill, of Barney, and Mrs. Reva Duff, of Afton; an aged grandmother, Mrs. Mary Frances DeVault, age 83, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Winterset, Friday afternoon, February 21st at 2:30 o’clock, by Rev. A. R. Weed and Rev. A. P. Keast. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
