William Ford Price, son of Walter J. and Nancy Reed Price, was born May 2, 1895 at Earlham, and died January 2, 1970 at his farm home in Madison township.
Mr. Price was a prominent citizen of the Earlham community, having been in the mercantile business here for 25 years.
During this time he was active in community affairs and development, having served on the town council and as mayor of the town. He also served as an elder in the Presbyterian church.
He sold his business in the fall of 1938 and moved to his farm south of Earlham in Madison township and had been engaged in farming since that time.
On March 12, 1917 he was married to Emily Josephine Clements. They were the parents of two sons, William C. and Bruce. His wife preceded him in death February 9, 1969 and son Bruce in 1934. Three brothers--Sterling, Ray and Walter--and one sister, Mrs. Mary Shifflett, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, William C. Price, two granddaughters, Mrs. Graham (Vicki) Turbiville of Maryland, and Nancy, a student at Iowa State University at Ames; and one grandson, Nicholas at home; and two sisters, Esther Stockwell and Mabel Cachiaras of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 5, at the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset, where he was a member, Rev. John E. Fink was in charge. Interment was in Earlham cemetery.
