RAYMOND GARDNER, West Branch

Raymond Wayne Gardner, 69, died Oc. 29, 2000, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Cener in West Branch.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, Nov. 1) at 1 p.m. at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola.

Raymond Gardner was born Jan. 14, 1931, to William Roswell and Tressie Helena (Woods) Gardner of Osceola. He received his education in the Clarke County schools, graduating from Osceola High School in 1949. On Sept. 20, 1951, he was united in marriage to Beverly Ann DeVore in Osceola. Following their marriage, they made their home in Osceola, Albia and Harlan before moving to Winterset in 1978. He had worked in the engineering offices of Clarke, Clay, Monroe, Shelby and Madison counties. A veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Seabee Branch from 1951-55, he was a memer of the First Christian Church and A.F. & A.M. Lodge 77, both in Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother.

He is survived by two sons, Mike Gardner (wife Kayleen) of Coralville and Gary Gardner (wife Carol) of West Branch; three sisters, Jean Wallace (husband Bob) of Bella Vista, Ark., Shirley Ferroni of Mechanicsville and Jewell Midthun (husband Don) of Des Moines; a brother, Tom Gardner (wife Eloise of Des Moines; a brother-in-law, Doyce DeVore (wife Barb) of Osceola; and two grandchildren.
