Mary Jane Jackson, wife of James Jackson of Douglas township was born in Liverpool, England, Nov. 14, 1856 and came to this country at the age of eight years. She was united in marriage to James Jackson in Pickering, Canada, March 8, 1873, and to this union were born nine children, two having preceded her in death.
Mrs. Jackson has been a resident of Madison county for 18 years. She was converted in early life, when a resident of Waltham, Ill. and was a member of the Presbyterian church for many years, transferring hr membership to West Star church. She has been failing in health for sometime. She was stricken with paralysis, which caused her death, May 6th, at the age of 64 years, 5 months and 22 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Frey.
Her husband and children were with her during her entire illness and everything was done that loving hands could do to comfort her, but the loving Father has called her home to be with the ones who have gone before.
She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband and seven children; Arthur of Booneville, Robert and Mary of Chicago, Will and Tom of Winterset, Mrs. Geo. Frey of Pitzer and James of Firesteel, S. D., 21 grandchildren, one sister, four brothers and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at West Star church by W. C. Hilmer, pastor. She was laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery beside her daughter, Anna.
