FORMER LOCAL RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Lela Schoenenberger Died in California Last Thursday.

Mrs. Lela Schoenenberger, a well-known resident of this community for many years, died Thursday, May 18, at a hospital in San Leandro, Calif. She was 68 years of age.

Mrs. Schoenenberger was a native of Nebraska, where she was born Jan. 20, 1893, a daughter of Charles and Victoria Scott Deardorff. She came to this community early in life, and was a resident here until 1948, when she moved to Texas. She moved to California in 1959.

She was married here in 1912 to Iver Schoenenberger and they made their home on a farm in Scott township, until after his death in 1948.

She was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are two sons, Charles C. Schoenenberger of Clearlake Highlands, Calif., and Robert E. Schoenenberger of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Reva Peterson of Richmond, Calif., and Mrs. Hazel Baringer of Ogden, Utah.; and a brother, Cecil Deardorff of Rifle, Colo.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Anderson-Wilson Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John Porath, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Lela Shoenenberger

Funeral services will be held tomorrow for Lela Schoenenberger, 176 Isabella St., Hayward, who died Thursday in a San Leandro hospital. She was 68.

A native of Nebraska, Mrs. Schoenenberger lived in the Hayward area four years.

She is survived by two sons, Charles of Clear Lake Highlands and Robert of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Reva Peterson of Richmond, and Mrs. Hazel Barringer of Utah; a brother, Cecil Deardorff of Colorado; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Pratt-Flierl Mortuary, 1044 C St., Hayward, tomorrow at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Kenneth Miller of Castro Valley Methodist Church officiating.

Closing services will be in Winterset, Iowa.
