Services for Cora Belle Clausen, 95, a former Winterset reesident who died Dec. 12 at a Perry nursing home, were held Dec. 15 at the Zion Lutheran Church at Dexter with the Rev. David Rempfer officiating. Burial was at the Dexter Cemetery.
Born Nov. 2, 1890 near Norton, Kan., she was the daughter of William M. and Mary Morse Drake. In 1900, the family moved to Madison County and continued in farming.
She attended Winterset High School and taught in Madison and Adair counties and completed nurse's training in Excelsior Springs, Mo. She did practical nursing in Missouri and the Des Moines area many years.
She was married to Ferdinand Detrich Clausen on March 7, 1920 and the couple made their home on a farm west of Penn Center for 65 years. She sang in the church choir and was active in Ladies Aid, Hobby Club, Historical Society and the Farm Bureau.
Survivors include a son, Frederick of Dexter; a daughter, Mary Joan Blaisdell of Perry; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Page 4Cora Belle Clausen, daughter of William M. and Mary Morse Drake, was born November 2, 1890 near Norton, Kansas. In 1900 the family moved to Madison County, Iowa and continued in farming.
Cora attended Winterset High School and taught school in Madison and Adair counties. She completed nurses training in Excelsior Springs, Missouri and did practical nursing in Missouri and in the Des Moines area many years.
She was united in marriage to Ferdinand Detrich Clausen March 7, 1920 and they made their home on a farm west of Penn Center for 65 years. They loved children and adopted two, Frederick and ary Joan.
Cora sang in the church choir many years and was active in Ladies Aid, Hobby Club, Garden club, American Legion auxiliary, Dallas County Historical Society and Farm Bureau.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Ned and Warren, and by her sister, Nina.
Survivors include her son Frederick of Dexter; her daughter, Mary Joan Blaisdell of Perry; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Cora had a wonderful and full life.
Funeral services were conducted December 15, 1985 at Zion Lutheran Church, Dexter, Iowa, with Pastor David Rempfer officiating. Organ music was provided by Helen Clausen. Pallbearers were Marvin Jobst, Harvey Dean Blaisdell, Glenn Drake, Jim Clausen, Larry Blaisdell and Ben Clausen. Honorary pallbearers were Ivan Hart, George Hart, Leonard Drake, David Drake, Floyd Hart, William Drake, Garry Drake, Wesley Drake and Lawrence Drake. Interment was in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Iowa.
