Ersie L. Wilson, Winterset

Graveside services for Ersie L. Wilson, 89, Winterset, who died Nov. 9 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital were held on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Moon Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Ferguson of Des Moines officiating.

Born in Madison County on Aug. 7, 1898, he was the son of William and Ida Wilson. He was an Army veteran of World War II and lived most of his lifetime in Madison County.

He was a retired farmer and part-time lay minister. He also was a meat inspector at Rath Packing. Mr. Wilson, who resided at the Winterset Care Center South, was a member of the Lorimor First Baptist Church and the Madison County Rock Club. On Oct. 12, 1920, he was married to Ruby T. Pinckney near Macksburg.

Survivors include his wife at the Care Center South; daughters, Ruth Black of Des Moines and Lois Marchant of Wrightwood, Calif.; a sister, Blanche Baker of Estherville; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son and four brothers.
