Opal Jessup was born in Madison county, Iowa, on March 24, 1900 and died on April 13, 1917, age 17 years and 20 days. She was married to Burl King on Oct. 28, 1916. She leaves to mourn their loss a father and mother, four sisters: Mrs. John Evans, Mrs. Pearl Debord, Mrs. Chester Evans and Neta, who is still at home; also one brother, Alvin. She united with the Church of Christ when 12 years old. In after years she transferred her membership to the First Christain church of Winterset, of which church she was a member in good standing at the time of her death.
Funeral services were held in the Christian church. Music was furnished by the choir from the Church of Christ. Sermon from Isaiah 6:4-6 conducted by Adden D. Mann, her pastor, in the presence of nearly 1,000 people.
