LEON K. WILSON DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Leon K. Wilson, formerly of Winterset, died Saturday, Sept. 8, in California, following an illness with cancer of the spine. He was 57 years of age.

Mr. Wilson was born Feb. 10, 1905, in Adair county, a son of Rollie and Georgia Wilson. Most of his early life was spent in Winterset, where he attended Winterset high school and was employed at Montross pharmacy as a young man. His mother died when he was a small boy, and his only brother, Wyman Wilson, also died many years ago.

As a young man he moved to California, where the remainder of his life was spent in the Los Angeles area. At the time of his death, his home was in Lakewood.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine.

Nearest surviving relatives are his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Wilson of California.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in California and the body is being returned to this community. Burial with brief services, will be held this Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hill of Zion church near Orient.
