Gaylon E. Goodknight was born at Fernell, Ia., on Oct. 14, 1933, a son of R. L. and Alice Mannetter Goodknight. His early life was spent in the Hubbard community where he graduated from high school with the class of 1951. From 1956 until 1958 he served in Germany, with the Third Armored division, U. S. Army. Prior to entering service he worked as a crane operator in South Carolina, and recently had been employed as a crane operator at the Booneville Gravel Plant. He had lived in Winterset since 1958.
He is survived by his father, R. L. Goodknight of Winterset; his mother, Mrs. Alice Goodknight of Hubbard; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Goodknight of Hubbard; and a brother Loren Goodknight of Alden.
Funeral services were held here Friday evening from the Collins Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. The body was taken to Hubbard where services were held Saturday from Zion United Church of Christ, in charge of the Rev. Harry Thompson of Hubbard. Burial was made in the Hubbard Cemetery.
