Vera Kirwan, Washington

Vera G. Kirwan, 82, of Longview, Washington, died Oct. 11, 1994 in a local nursing home. A memorial service was held at the McVicker’s Chapel on the Hill with the Rev. Bob Giles officiating.

She was born Nov. 27, 1911 near Earlham to Broer August and Adela (Speer) Bloomquist. She graduated from Earlham High School and taught in rural schools in Madison and Clarke counties in Iowa for 12 years. She married John Leo Kirwan on July 9, 1944. She was a homemaker and a member of the Tenino Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Harold “Edward” Kirwan and Thomas Kirwan, both of Longview, Wash.; one stepson, Richard Kirwan of Longview, Wash.; three step-daughters, Leota Ward, Bernadine Vasser and Shirley Dunn, all of Longview: four sisters, Inez Hartman of Winterset, Elsie Beaman of Dexter, Kathryn Hectner of Athens, Ga., and Augusta Rehard of Peru; one brother, Carl A. Bloomquist of Earlham; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
